To an estimated 1:4 girls and 1:6 boys abused
before age 18 and those that love them.
Yet, prevention efforts fail to receive
the proper attention & funding they so desperately need to effective educate people & protect children.
yet millions upon millions of people don't realize how prevalent sexual abuse is or how to prevent it.
Worse, many who do know choose to live in denial believing it couldn't happen in their family, in their community.
To be told not to report because their abuser simply made a mistake or that they must have wanted and enabled the abusive relationship.
Abuse victims are made to feel guilty, ashamed, told they're overreacting or lying for a vindictive purpose. Told to forgive and forget, to "keep the peace."
In the end, protecting children from sexual abuse isn't just about protecting the children we know & love - it's about standing up, speaking out, and taking action to give a voice to the millions of children across the globe and using our energy to create a safer, more nurturing world for every person.
